Week Ten Milestone: Heads Up

Wow, kids do have tricks up their sleeves. Sushi surprised Mushi and I by lifting her head and keeping it up long enough for her excited parents to get the camera, take pictures, get the video camera, and take clips. I guess she decided tonight that she wanted to broaden her visual field which was limited to just the left and right side of her.




"What are you guys looking at? "
"Show's over, good night."

The pain goes beyond labour...

"Hi, mom and dad, do I look like a boxer? I can't wait to try out my new moves..."


"Would you like to be my punching bag, dad?"







"Thanks Dad!! That was a good punch wasn't it? Look at my face, I gave it all I had with 100% accuracy..."



"I wonder what else I can do with daddy's face? This is a neat place to hang around."































"COOL... I can utilize my "powerful" grip more productively: holding a mirror. What a second, how come I can't see myself?"

Play Time

"I tried on my first dress to go to my first Christmas party at Uncle and Auntie Showerheads house. La la la...Gee.. I feel like a woman..."

A party weekend...

"Dear grandma: Thank you for your care for the past 7 weeks of my life. I love your singing, dancing, and cooking (well, through mommy). I so look forward to coming downstairs to see you every morning, listening to your little donkey song, and talking baby language to me (at least that's what I think it was). We had a great time, and I can't wait to see you in February...

"Christmas is coming, and I learned the story of baby Jesus. Mommy and daddy got the tree up early this year... yeah. So, this is what a Christmas tree looks like..., and what is the biblical relevance of a Christmas tree? I see no mention of Christmas tree in my book!!"

Baby Imitation

What is this obssession in imitating this little newborn?

We grown-ups are fascinated with her every move from a twinkle in her eye to a giant biological explosion from her gluteus maximus.

Is it because inside each and every one of us, there is a secret desire to want to never grow up and to stay at arguably the most worry free time of our lives?


Is it because inside each and everyone of us, there is a desire to want to be free in expressing ourselves without any social consequences?

Whatever the reason is, let's keep trying... it will make us feel younger and look older (because of all the wrinkles we force onto our faces).














BTW, it also works with young kids too!!

Action Packed Week

Dear Sushi celebrated her one MONTH birthday on Monday, November 7, 2005. Being a month old baby, She is ALLL grown up. She decided to celebrate this milestone by taking her yet to coordinate limbs out on a test drive on the following activites. WARNING." These acts are supervised by professional burpers and diaper changers. Please do not attempt these stunts at anytime, anywhere."





Action 1: The Sushi Slide Show...


"Hmm... what is zis? Red and shiny. I must try!"

"hmm... Simba, you have more hair than I do. So I must ride you."

Action 3: The Rolling Cashew


Cashew: "Hey, I thought I saw my cousin Sushi"

Sushi (out to lunch): "la la la... I am dreaming of a White Christmas..."






Cashew: "I did!! I did!! Here she is!"

Sushi: "Hi Couz, I would look you in the eye, but sorry I can't turn yet"

Cashew: "Yeah!! What a second, you're wearing my clothes!!"

Sushi: "Oops, daddy told me he got it new for me..."

Cashew: "That's okay. I got my generous genes from my parents."

Sushi: "Thanks. You're the best!!"

Week in Review

1. Sushi's first "trick or treat". One can never go wrong asking dear grandma for candy. Sushi: "I ain't letting go of my candy!! Coffee crisp is my favourite"









2. "Lord, I lift your name on HIGH..."
Sushi: "This is my first singing lesson. Mommy told me to use my stomach, and I have been practicing it A LOT by crying."









3. Sushi: "Hey, dad. Don't be so lazy, it's not quite my job to hold the bottle yet!!"










4. Sushi: "It looks like A-Ma is doing some Taiwanese folk dancing..."







"... and I am not sure if that is my cup of tea... but shhh... don't tell her. I don't want to get in trouble."







5. "Why is dad's mouth open so wide when I am the one doing the drinking?"







6. Sushi: "my new fall fashion, "Double Hoodie on the Go."








Sushi: "Take care everyone, see you next week!!"

The three week mark...

Generally, a time of three weeks can be defined simply as 3-7day weeks, 21 days, or 504 hours. However, a time of three weeks in baby's terms is quite different. Our "three weeks with the baby" is defined as 168 three hour feedings, 4 bags under Pushi and Mushi's eyes, 7 late appointments, 20 waste management mishaps, and 220 dirty diapers.

The good news is that all the hard work has paid off so far as our dear Sushi continues to grow healthily. Although we very much want her to also grow "happily", that particular emotion is not quite yet developed. All the little smily twitches are usually a precusor to a major cry. We have learned not to take anything for granted with a baby!! Here are some observations from the past three weeks...


1. Sushi: "I am not like other kids", "so I must sleep with style!!"








2. She is beginning to develop a passion for karaoke. I wonder where she gets that from?










3. Oh no, she is VAIN!!








4. She enjoys sleeping in a car ride!!

5, Taiwanese grandmas like to lecture mommy and daddy for taking Sushi around town before she is one month old.

6. Taiwanese grandmas likes to lecture dadddy for taking mommy out around town before Sushi is one month old.

All in all, a fun three weeks have passed by. Oh, Sushi (the boss) is calling (crying) again... diaper 221 coming up!!
